Nothing is more important for the health of you and your developing baby than getting excellent prenatal care. The doctors and nurse-midwives at OB-GYN Associates of Marietta provide comprehensive medical care throughout your pregnancy and delivery. They also offer an innovative program called CenteringPregnancy®, which gives women the chance to use their prenatal checkups to connect with other women while learning about pregnancy. To schedule a prenatal appointment, call one of the offices in Marietta or Woodstock, Georgia, or book an appointment online.
Your prenatal care follows a regular schedule, with monthly appointments through week 28 of your pregnancy, then checkups every two weeks through week 36, and then weekly visits until you deliver.
At each prenatal visit, your doctor at OB-GYN Associates of Marietta evaluates you and your baby, checking your baby’s growth and heart rate. At specific times throughout your pregnancy, you’ll receive routine tests to check for health problems that can affect you, your pregnancy, and your baby, such as:
Getting at least one ultrasound in the second trimester is a much-anticipated part of your prenatal care. In addition to seeing your baby for the first time, you may learn the baby’s gender, and your doctor can thoroughly assess your baby’s growth and development.
Should any concerns arise, the doctors at OB-GYN Associates of Marietta may perform additional ultrasounds or specialized tests to evaluate fetal movement, amniotic fluid levels, and other markers of your baby’s health.
OB-GYN Associates of Marietta is proud to be an approved CenteringPregnancy site. CenteringPregnancy follows a new model of prenatal health care that’s proven to lower the rate of preterm births and offers women a unique opportunity to connect with others sharing the same journey.
When you choose CenteringPregnancy, you come in for you normal ten prenatal visits, but each visit is 90-120 minutes, and you can do much more than see your doctor — you also have plenty of time to meet with other pregnant women.
At each visit, you take your own weight and blood pressure, and see your doctor for a checkup. Then you join your group, which includes a provider and women at about the same stage of pregnancy. You’ll have plenty of time to talk, learn about pregnancy and delivery, ask questions, share your experience, and become part of a team that supports you through your pregnancy and beyond.
One of the most important parts of your pregnancy and prenatal care is learning about what to expect during a vaginal delivery, when you may need a cesarean delivery, and what happens during a cesarean delivery.
In addition to an experienced group of board-certified obstetricians, the team at OB-GYN Associates of Marietta includes an exceptional group of nationally certified nurse-midwives who offer the best of both worlds: strong medical skills and the heart of nursing.
